VP Chief Financial Officer

Des Moines Metro Credit Union is a $70-million credit union that takes pride in serving the underserved markets in our community. We are seeking a motivated individual to help lead our organization as Vice President & Chief Financial Officer. This position will direct the financial affairs of the credit union and oversee general accounting, investments, financial reporting, compliance, and budgeting.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and analyze monthly income statement and balance sheet and compare to budget; make recommendations for changes
  • Prepare and analyze financial reports and make recommendations related to CECL, reserves, fixed assets, and other expenditures
  • Oversee and perform balancing and reconciling of general ledger accounts to ensure complete and accurate financial and accounting records are maintained.
  • Approve and oversee the processing of accounts payable
  • Work closely with the CEO in the credit union’s annual budgeting process to forecast, prepare, and maintain the annual budget
  • Perform the ALM activities of the credit union, including liquidity management, investment portfolio management and accounting, recommending rates for loans and deposits, and ALM reporting
  • Prepare and submit quarterly 5300 Call Report
  • Oversee, prepare, and ensure timely filing and payment of various taxes (property, Moneys and Credit, payroll, withholding, sales, etc.)
  • Work closely with third parties including regulators, auditors, and insurer to coordinate exams and audits to achieve positive results
  • Add, update, and revise credit union policies related to areas of responsibility
  • Serve as the BSA Compliance Officer
  • Attend and participate in regular and committee meetings of the board of directors

 

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years’ experience of financial management in a credit union (preferred) or banking organization or other relevant experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, preferably in Accounting or Finance required; CPA designation a plus
  • Excellent problem solving and analytical skills
  • Proficiency in Office 365 products, particularly Excel
  • Ability to work with a culturally diverse staff and membership base
  • Bilingual in Spanish a plus, but not required

Des Moines Metro Credit Union offers a generous benefit and compensation package. This position will report to the CEO and will help oversee the staff and operation of the credit union as part of the credit union’s senior leadership team. This is a full-time, exempt, on-site position.
