$1,000 College Scholarships Awarded To MEMBERS1st Community Credit Union Members in Several Iowa Communities!

May 19, 2022 — MEMBERS1st Community Credit Union is excited to announce the winners of our 2022 College Scholarship program!

As part of their application, students submitted a 300-500 word essay detailing what methods they would use to attract and retain credit union members if they were in charge. Each of the following members received a $1,000 College Scholarship for the 2022/2023 academic year:

Scholarships Given to High School Seniors: Rochelle Avalos (Marshalltown, IA); Isaac Ryan (Ames, IA); Mason Engle (Marshalltown, IA); Tucker Hejlik (Iowa Falls, IA); Gannon Williams (Marshalltown, IA).

Post-High School Scholarships: Hannah Sloter (Ames, IA) and Klaudia Hernandez (Marshalltown, IA).

“We’re pleased to be offering these scholarships for the eighth year in a row,” said MEMBERS1st CEO Janet Borer. “The scholarship essays offer great insight into how MEMBERS1st can best serve our members, now and in the future, and we’re very excited to play a role in contributing to their educations!”

MEMBERS1st Community Credit Union is an Iowa-based not-for-profit financial cooperative that is owned and operated by its members. As a financial cooperative, there are no stockholders — the board is comprised of volunteer members who use the credit union’s financial services and represent the entire membership.
