Corda Credit Union Pledges $100,000 to North Liberty Community Pantry

July 26, 2024

CEDAR RAPIDS, IA, July 24, 2024 – Corda Credit Union has pledged to contribute $100,000 over five years to the North Liberty Community Pantry.

The North Liberty Community Pantry is in the midst of a capital campaign, Planting New Roots, to raise funding for a new, larger facility at 350 West Penn Street in North Liberty. According to the nonprofit organization’s website, “the proposed plan features over 10,500 square feet of usable space for a large warehouse, a roomy shopping area, a waiting lounge, and better accommodations for volunteers and staff.” The new building’s reception area will be known as the Corda Credit Union Lobby.

“We are so grateful that Corda Credit Union is helping lead the way for the North Liberty Community Pantry to ‘plant new roots’!” said Ryan Bobst, Executive Director of the North Liberty Community Pantry. “Not only is Corda Credit Union’s generosity necessary to reach our goal, but their gift shows what is possible when our community comes together to help our neighbors.”

Corda Credit Union, formerly known as Linn Area Credit Union, will be opening a new branch in the Solomon’s Landing development in North Liberty. Slated to open in late 2025, the North Liberty expansion will be Corda Credit Union’s first location outside of Linn County. The credit union currently has three branches in Cedar Rapids and one in Marion.

Ranked by Forbes in 2024 as the fourth best credit union in Iowa, Corda Credit Union actively supports the communities it serves, both by contributing funds to local nonprofits and being a champion of volunteerism.

“We are very excited to support the North Liberty Community Pantry as it enters a new phase to fulfill its mission,” said Paula O’Rourke, President and CEO of Corda Credit Union. “We are deeply committed to serving our members and building up our communities, and we can’t wait to begin serving the North Liberty community.”
