Iowa Credit Union Foundation Raises Over $48,000 at “Be the Light” ICUF Golf Classic

July 1, 2022

ICUF Be the Light Golf Classic LogoThe Iowa Credit Union Foundation (ICUF), the philanthropic arm of the Iowa Credit Union League (ICUL), raised over $48,000 at its 2022 “Be the Light” Golf Classic. The name of the Golf Classic changed last summer in memory of Dale Owen, a beloved Iowa credit union advocate who encouraged others to be the light in service to others.

This year, over 130 golfers and many generous sponsors helped the Foundation raise more than $48,000. The money raised will be used to fund a variety of scholarships, financial education programming and grants for Iowans and Iowa credit unions.

“In its inaugural year as the “Be the Light” Golf Classic, the Foundation is incredibly blessed to offer a space for those to come together and support the Foundation,” said Ena Babic Barnes, ICUF Executive Director. “These donations will allow the Foundation to do more to serve Iowans, and invest in mission-align initiatives and programs that champion financial well-being for all.”

Founded in 1995 as the philanthropic arm of the ICUL, ICUF’s primary focus is the championing the financial well-being of Iowans through credit unions. Guided by the credit union philosophy of people helping people ICUF champions financial well-being for all through its various programs, grants and scholarships.
