Money Magazine Names Veridian Among Best Banks and Credit Unions in the Midwest

November 13, 2023

WATERLOO, Iowa (Nov. 8, 2023) – Money magazine has named Veridian Credit Union among the top five Best Banks and Credit Unions in the Midwest for 2023-2024. Veridian was recognized for offering the best rates in a 12-state region, including Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, Wisconsin, Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota, Iowa, Nebraska, Kansas and Missouri.

“Consumers are looking for financial tools that make their money work in their favor,” said Veridian’s Chief Experience Officer Mark Koppedryer. “We’re proud of the positive difference our products and services make in our members’ financial lives, and we’re grateful to be recognized for their value.”

The regional ranking recognizes one bank or credit union in each of five categories, including Best Rewards, Best Fees, Best Rates, Best Customer Satisfaction and Best Overall. To determine the winners in each category, editors reviewed data on minimum balance requirements, interest rates, monthly fees, online accessibility and more. In Veridian’s ranking for Best Rates, Money specifically cited the credit union’s Premium Plus Checking for having a high annual percentage yield, no minimum balance, no monthly service fee and free overdraft protection.

Veridian Credit Union, founded in 1934 in Waterloo, Iowa, is a not-for-profit financial cooperative owned by its 329,000 members. The credit union offers a full range of business and consumer financial services with more than 1,000 employees and 32 branches across Iowa, eastern Nebraska and the Twin Cities metro area.
