Newsweek Names Dupaco Community Credit Union to List of Top 250 Regional Credit Unions in the U.S.

January 5, 2024

Dubuque, Iowa – Newsweek has named Dupaco Community Credit Union a Top Regional Credit Union in the United States for 2024. This recognition was given to only 250 regional credit unions nationwide.

Dupaco was also just one of three credit unions in the state of Iowa given the publication’s five-star rating.

Newsweek conducted research with Plant-A Insight Group that sought to define both the financial strength of institutions as well as consumer confidence with credit unions and banks where people do business. Starting with a list of more than 9,440 financial institutions and with data from over 35,000 customer interviews, the findings were narrowed and Newsweek named the best 500 regional institutions (250 banks, 250 credit unions) in the United States to the list.

The research looked at areas such as overall financial health, profitability, exposure to risks and potential losses, lending and leasing activity and more. In addition, the study also collected more than 1.3 million social media reviews and 148 million Apple Ap and Google Play store reviews to support their scoring model.

With this week’s announcement, Nancy Cooper, Global Editor in Chief of Newsweek said, “In an era where digital advancements can overshadow personalized service, regional banks and credit unions stand out for their customer-centric financial services. These institutions prove that a community-centered approach can redefine the banking experience.”

Joe Hearn, President and CEO of Dupaco, said, “While we did not seek out this recognition, we are thrilled to begin 2024 with such a great accolade. The research by Newsweek was done independently and looked at thousands of data points to create this list. This is yet another way for us to show our financial health as a member-owned financial cooperative.”

The study noted to keep its focus on regional institutions, nationwide banks and credit unions were excluded from the ranking.
