Veridian Credit Union Awards $18,000 in Scholarships to Nine Iowa Students

WATERLOO, Iowa (May 16, 2024) – Veridian Credit Union has awarded $18,000 in scholarships to nine students for the 2024-2025 academic year. Eight scholarships of $2,000 each were awarded to Veridian members in two categories, including high school and post-high school.

 

“There’s no better investment we could make in the future of our communities than in our youth,” said Veridian President and CEO Renee Christoffer. “We’re proud to support these students and wish them all the best as they build the future they envision.”

 

Applicants submitted an essay defining their sense of community and providing examples of service to community. Veridian scholarships were administered in partnership with the Iowa Credit Union Foundation.

 

An additional $2,000 was awarded in conjunction with Veridian’s ArtShare program for a member who is a high school senior enrolling in an educational program leading to a career in the arts. ArtShare Scholarship applicants submitted an essay detailing their future in the arts.

The Iowa Credit Union Foundation also recently awarded an additional $3,500 in Warren A. Morrow Memorial Scholarships to two Veridian members. This scholarship was created in memory of the late Warren A. Morrow for his extraordinary commitment to the credit union industry and the Hispanic community. Veridian members who are 2024 Warren A. Morrow Memorial Scholarship recipients include Denver High School student Kendall Cortelyou and Des Moines Area Community College student Dayana Marinero Cea.
