Veridian Credit Union Seeks Public Nominations for Local Giving Tuesday Donations

November 1, 2023

WATERLOO, Iowa (Nov. 1, 2023) – Veridian Credit Union is seeking public input on which local nonprofit organizations should receive a portion of $35,000 for Giving Tuesday. The public is invited to nominate their favorite nonprofit organization now through Nov. 12 for a chance to receive up to $10,000. On Nov. 13, Veridian will draw at random from those nominated to award $5,000 to one eligible nonprofit organization in each of its five market areas, including the Des Moines area, Waterloo/Cedar Falls area, Cedar Rapids/Iowa City area, Omaha/Council Bluffs area and the Twin Cities area. An additional organization from any of those market areas will also be drawn to receive $10,000. Recipients will be announced on Giving Tuesday, Nov. 28.

“We want the selection of our Giving Tuesday donation recipients to include input from our members and communities,” said Areli Solorio, Veridian public relations strategist. “We also hope this prompts an early reminder that this important day is coming up and helps more of us start thinking about what we can do individually to participate.”

To help ensure equal opportunity between large and small nonprofit organizations, each nominated organization will receive one entry for the drawing regardless of the number of times it was nominated. Nominations are accepted and other details are available at Veridiancu.org/GivingTuesday.

Veridian Credit Union, founded in 1934 in Waterloo, Iowa, is a not-for-profit financial cooperative owned by its 329,000 members. The credit union offers a full range of business and consumer financial services with more than 1,000 employees and 32 branches across Iowa, eastern Nebraska and the Twin Cities metro area.
